Rectifier Circuit
- Converts AC to DC
- Filter eliminates AC components of signal to produce constant DC output
- Quintessential circuit that is used to convert 120V 60Hz AC power to the required DC voltage for an electronic device
- Diode state changes with time, so a given linear model is only valid for a certain time interval
Half-Wave Rectifier Circuit
- A diode is placed in series with a resistive load
- For the positive half-cycle, the source forces positive current, and $V_o = V_s$
- For the negative half-cycle, negative current can’t exist through diode
- Therefore, the diode is off, the current through $R$ is 0, and $V_o = 0$
Analysis of Half-Wave Circuit
