Neutral Atom Arrays
- An array of individual atoms with each atom confined in an “optical tweezer”
- Each tweezer is a focused laser beam
- Atoms can be pushed using laser beams
- $\delta$ is called the laser “detuning”
- $\delta > 0$: blue-detuned; $\delta < 0$: red-detuned
- When laser is turned on, it shifts the ground-state energy by
where $\Omega_R$ is the Rabi frequency - Frequency of atom cycling between $g$ and $e$
and $\Gamma_e$ is the spontaneous rate of emission
Laser-atom Processes
- Stimulated Absorption
- Stimulated Emission
- Spontaneous Emission
